In Memoriam: Myrabel Hollowell
Myrabel Hollowell died Saturday, October 25, 2014. A memorial service was held on November 1 in Wichita. Myrabel will be remembered as a gifted music educator, organist, pianist and accompanist. Her music teaching career spanned from 1945 to 1982, all of which was in Kansas. She was always very active in KMEA as the wife of F. Robert Hollowell, the first Executive Director of KMEA. Myrabel was a constant presence at the In-Service Workshop with her smiles, ever-ready humor, thoughtfulness, kindness and an ever-present good-natured disposition. She will be remembered by all who knew her and her name will be associated with the Hollowell Award given by KMEA to a college junior majoring in Music Education. She will be missed.
