What a great 2015 Tri-M Mini-Conference! I was very happy to see all 159 Tri-M members and I am so excited to see Tri-M chapters from around the state sprouting up and growing!

During our annual Friday morning Tri-M Mini-Conference we had the opportunity to listen and learn from Phillip Payne of Kansas State University. He shared his presentation on "Advocacy, What Can We Do?" with our students. During his presentation he had many students generate ideas on what and how they can reach their chapters, community and schools through music advocacy.

This year we had the honor of hearing from three very inspiring and knowledgeable future music educators from Friends University, University of Kansas, and Washburn University. During their sessions they shared with us their advocacy strategies they use in and around their schools and communities. After we heard from our collegiate partners we got to hear from our very own state chapters! Many brought their own ideas to share with all the attending chapters!

This year we shared a different experience and came together for a fun performance of our National Tri-M Honor Society Song! This was a wonderful experience for all and gave the Tri-M chapters the opportunity to take a new piece of music home with them to share with their chapters. Congrats to our very own Newton Railers for winning the coveted "Tri-M's Got Talent" competition! They won with their amazing rendition of "The Cup Song" that their whole chapter took part in!

Please be looking for information coming your way for Chapter of the Year and National Chapter of the Year. This years State deadline will be on May 1st. We would LOVE TO SEE every chapter participate this year's chapter of the year process! No matter how big or small your chapter is, we want to you to go for it and really put your chapter out there; we have way so many amazing chapters doing amazing things or music education and for music advocacy and we want your chapter to be recognized for it! Please, Expect to have your state Chapter of the Year information prepared by mid-April. Below are some fun chapter pictures, including pictures of a few of our chapters who attended our Mini-Conference. Best wishes to all, have a great rest of your semester and best wishes for contest season!
