I was very happy to see all 153 Tri-M members at the 2014 Tri-M
Mini-Conference!! After last years "Snowpocalypse" we were happy
to have the highest attendance in years for this year's Mini-Conference!!
During our annual Friday morning Tri-M Mini-Conference
we had the opportunity to listen and learn from Dr. Frank Tracz of
Kansas State University. He shared his presentation on "Music At
the Collegiate Level" with our students. During his presentation he
gave many examples and tips on how to achieve, succeed, and
strive as a young future music educator. We also got to hear from a
wonderful panel of future music educators, including Billy Wicks,
Kansas NAfME Collegiate President, shared with the students many
exciting and fun details about college life and how to prepare to
become a music education major.
CONGRATULATIONS, Renae Weaver from the Labette County High
School Tri-M Chapter. Renae is the recipient of the 2014 Tri-M
Future Music Educator Scholarship!
During our sharing session we got to hear from Lindsay Modin, the
Tri-M sponsor for Salina-Lakewood Middle School, the National
Junior Tri-M Chapter of the Year, as well as many other wonderful
chapters from around our state. Kansas is honored to have such
amazing chapters leading the nation in music excellence and
advocacy.
Please be looking for information coming your way for Chapter of the
Year and National Chapter of the Year. Once National Headquarters
sets their date, I will send our date out to all Tri-M chapters in the
state. Expect to have your state Chapter of the Year information
prepared by mid-April.
Have a wonderful contest season and please let me know if I can
help in any way!
