Each year the Kansas Music Educators Association seeks nominations of administrators from across the state who are truly outstanding supporters of music and the other arts in their schools. Susan Laushman and Cooper Neil are very happy to work with our 2014 KMEA Honor Administrator, Mr. Jon Bishop.

We received several letters on Mr. Bishop's behalf and they all had a common thread . . . Mr. Bishop is all about the "Purple and White" . . . Mr. Bishop is a positive role model for staff and students . . . Mr. Bishop is encouraging and always has the students' best interest at heart . . . and, Mr. Bishop supports every program and every student.

From buying the band a new grill, to arranging teaching schedules to benefit both teachers and students, to singing in the Multigenerational Men's Choir (and soloing!), to shredding some mean guitar licks at pep assemblies, it's obvious that Mr. Bishop both supports and participates IN the fine arts at Pittsburg High School. Mr. Bishop's support of all the things that are important to faculty, students, parents and families in this school make him one of a kind!

Mr. Bishop is the kind of Principal that all music teachers dream of working with. We very much appreciate his support of music education, and we are proud to honor Mr. Jon Bishop as the 2014 KMEA Administrator of the Year!
