March is Music In Our Schools Month (MIOSM)
It is not too late to join in the 2013 Music In Our Schools Month celebration! The 2013 Music In Our Schools Month (MIOSM) slogan is "Music Education Orchestrating Success."

Schools are encouraged to sing all or any number of the 2013 Concert songs, view the student performances which will be on the NAFME website in March, have a school-wide sing-along, or a formal concert at any time during the entire month of March 2013—Music In Our Schools Month. The official date and time for The Concert for Music In Our Schools Month is the second Thursday of March at 12:00 PM (CST). With participation no longer limited to one day, the Concert for Music in Our Schools Month provides a month long performance opportunity for students and a chance for music teachers to shine the community spotlight on the importance of school music programs.

The concert video will be available on the NAfME website during the month of March free of charge. The song list, sheet music, and rehearsal tracks for the Concert songs are also available free of charge to NAfME members at musiced.nafme.org/concert. Program order: Alleluia Jubilate!, Cripple Creek, Peace Drum Song, The Power of Music, The Star-Spangled Banner, and Why We Sing.

I would also like to invite all of you to attend Arts Days at the Capitol on Thursday, February 28th, 2013, 11:30 AM at the Dillon House. Please help the Kansas Citizens for the Arts advocate for the arts in Kansas! For the entire schedule and additional information visit www.kansasarts.org.
