2016 KMEA Scholarship Winners
Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 KMEA Student Scholarships.
All-State Groups Scholarship KMEA awards three $500 scholarships to high school seniors who enroll as music education majors in a four-year Kansas college or university. One scholarship will be granted in each of the performance areas of wind/percussion, strings and voice. 2016 Recipients: Wind/Percussion - Noah Zoller, Olathe North High School Strings - Megan Gerbrandt, Shawnee Mission West High School Vocal - Sarah Flessner, Neodesha High School Robert & Myrabel Hollowell Scholarship This memorial scholarship is named for Bob Hollowell, former President ('59-'61) and Executive Director ('61-'92) of KMEA, and his wife Myrabel, also a Kansas music educator, for their service to the organization and to the kids and teachers that they served so well. In their honor, KMEA presents a $500 scholarship to a deserving college junior each year at the In-Service Workshop. Don & JoAnne Corbett Scholarship This scholarship is named for Don Corbett, former President ('71-'73) and Executive Director ('92-'02) of KMEA, as well as MENC National President ('86-'88), and his wife JoAnne, who gave endless hours of service to the music teachers and students of Kansas. A $500 scholarship, given annually to honor the service of the Corbetts to KMEA and NAfME, is awarded to a Music Education major who is a Collegiate NAfME member at a four-year college or university in Kansas. TRI-M Scholarship KMEA awards a $500 scholarship to a Tri-M Music Honor Society member who is a high school senior and who will enroll as a music education major in a four-year Kansas college or university. A student must be a member in good standing of his/her local Tri-M chapter and national Tri-M to be eligible. 2016 Recipient: Devin Philbrick, Altamont-Labette County High School Return to top |
