KMEA Fund News
The KMEA Fund has been in existence for six years now. I am
excited to report that we have a current balance of over
$90,000! That is a good thing, and I would like to thank all of
you that have given to the Fund multiple times. I would like to
encourage you to keep giving and if you haven't given yet, I
would like to encourage you to start.
The Fund was
established to underwrite our existing KMEA scholarships and
give us the resources to award grants that help further Music
Education in Kansas.
We are all involved in music because of someone who inspired
us and, if you have been teaching for any length of time, I'm
sure you have inspired several of your students to have music
become a larger part of their lives. Supporting the KMEA Fund
is another avenue to help support the future of music education
in Kansas.
Right now is a frustrating time with education funding and political support for education, but there have been challenges constantly that have threatened education in general and arts education in particular for years. We have to adapt and persevere with the knowledge and belief that we are fighting the noble fight for music education. KMEA as an organization and the KMEA Fund as a resource can help all of us deal with what is important, the education of our students.
