Retired Kommunications
Greetings from the "retired group!" We escaped another snow
disaster, but I'm sure a couple of folks missed our luncheon again
because of weather concerns. Hey - it's Kansas in the winter - you
never know. Congratulations to President Avian Bear and the KMEA
Board for another great In-Service Workshop!
The KMEA retired "wing" had a good turn out of nearly fifty for our In-Service Workshop luncheon on Saturday, March 1st at the Hyatt. Billie Hegge-DuVall led us in the Doxology after recognizing those of our number who have passed away in the past year. The Hyatt staff then served us an interesting tomato soup, a very good club-type sandwich, and an excellent piece of cheesecake. Betsy Wearing, representing the KMEA Fund, talked to us about ways we can support that fund and music education. KMEA President Avian Bear brought us greetings and encouraged us to keep contributing to our state, communities, and profession in any way we can. Our entertainment was the Troubadors from Newman University (a granddaughter of Bob Lee is a member), and they provided a nicely varied program. Please let me know if you have ideas for entertainment in the future. An issue I would like to address is the number of retired KMEA people who are not on my radar (list). We like to include everyone who has been a part of KMEA and our proud profession in the past. This is whether or not they decide to continue membership in NAfME. My list is generated from NAfME, so if people do let their membership expire and they aren't on a past list, I have no contact information for them. If you know of retirees who might be interested in sharing in our group and/or our activities - please send me names and/or addresses. MUSIC MAKES ME - - HAPPILY INVOLVED!! Return to top |
