NAfME Collegiate
Kelsey Scheuerman
President, Kansas NAfME Collegiate
Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a great fun-filled, relaxing summer to re-energize you for the fabulous semester ahead. I spent my summer attending conferences and camps such as the Conn-Selmer Institute in Indiana and the National Mariachi Conference in Las Vegas. I also worked as a staff member for the Buhler High School Band. All were fantastic experiences!

KCOMTEP
The main event going on this semester for the collegiate chapters is KCOMTEP (Kansas Conference of Music Teacher Education Professors). This mini-conference takes place in Wichita, Kansas, on September 30 and October 1. On Sunday, September 30, we will have clinics available for all collegiate members at Senseney Music in the afternoon. Check-in and late registration (*see information below regarding walk-in registrations) will take place after lunch and sessions will go into the evening. Clinic sessions will include band and string instrument repair, elementary programming, teaching in poor and underprivileged schools, and many more diverse sessions. Guest speakers include Frank Tracz (KSU), Reggie Romine from KSHSAA (Kansas State High School Activities Association), Phillip Payne (KSU), Travis Hale (Wichita South High School) and a panel of upper level collegiate members and many more! Senseney will provide supper on Sunday and a social event will commence at the Airport Inn Best Western. On Monday, October 1, there will be a mass clinic at Wichita State. KCOMTEP will provide lunch, followed by the October Board meeting. Board reports are due two weeks before the meeting.

Registration will be available online in August on the KMEA website. All individuals must be registered prior to the conference so we can have a lunch count for the provided meals. Cost for the conference is $10, whether you attend one or two days. *Anyone not registered by the start of the conference may still attend but will not be allowed to eat because the food order will have been made based on pre-registrations.

Have a fabulous semester and I hope to see you all at KCOMTEP! As always, if you have questions, feel free to email me at .
