KMEA Retired Kommunications
Greetings! As you can see, you are hearing from another new chair for this position.
What on earth have I gotten myself into?! Here is a group of great music educators
(you notice I didn't use past tense because many of you are still involved in music
education in one way or another) who have helped lead this organization into the
21st century and beyond. How can I possibly be the KMEA Chair for such a group?
First of all - I'm not retired! I am trying to bring the joy of music to students in the
Norton Community Schools. I guess you will just have to see if I can measure up to
the job you have had from other Chairs in the past. There are many in the group who
could probably do a much better job than I, but for now we will forge ahead. Wish me
luck!
Having taken the position just before Christmas, I am in the process of taking care of the following items for the In-Service Workshop in February. First there is the luncheon on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Please complete and return the Retired Luncheon Registration Form by the date indicated, February 11, 2012. Make checks payable to KMEA. Don't forget that KMEA graciously helps cover the cost of this event. Second is entertainment, for which I am in the process of taking care of for this year; however, if you have suggestions for things in the future (assuming I last beyond this year), please call, mail, or email me. Third is membership. If you know of people who have recently retired, please let me know. You should also inform me of any members who have passed away since last year's meeting. We will have some guests visiting this year to bring you greetings and news from our organization. Why do they do this? Because they know how important you are to the past and continued success of this profession, and they want to keep you involved. So far they include: John Taylor, KMEA Executive Director and NAfME Southwestern Division President, Craig Manteuffel, KMEA President, and Reggie Romine, KMEA KSHSAA Consultant. I truly hope to see you at the luncheon as you renew and refresh friendships and memories and update each other about life in general. If you have questions or suggestions to help me do a better job in any way, please let me know! Return to top |
